Steve Lee
London DJ / Producer Steve Lee has been been playing records in various worldwide clubs, bars and private parties for the last twenty years. Respected by fellow DJ’s alike for his own unique style and his passionate focus on quality new music - He still continues to entertain his audience with his seamless mix of new and exciting music.
Nowadays, Steve can be found at playing at various London Parties as well as the odd trip around the UK. He runs Balearica and continues to highlight some of his favourite Producer / DJ's - with familiar names such as Justin Robertson, Richard Norris, Phil Mison, Ray Mang, Coyote and many others making appearances at his monthly East london shindig.
Steve is also one half of Mondo Disco with Acid Jazz's Dave Jay and since returning back from DJ'ing in Croatia they've not continued the party in London. However, they did find time to release the popular Mondo Disco Vs Ray Mang disco edits on Mangled.
By day, Steve is one half of THE PROJECT CLUB who have releases and remixes released on Is It Balearic? Needwant and Under The Shade. 2010 is set to be a busy year for The Project Club with a number of releases coming out in the summer months.
Leftside Wobble
Over the last 12 months or so Leftside Wobble has become established for his genre hopping DJ sets, mixes and edits. Joining the dots between dub, funk, disco & house, his sets are a joyous journey, which for all their genre hopping content always remain cohesive and true to the spirit of DJ’s such as Ron Trent, François Kevorkian & Danny Krivit.
His edits for a diverse set of artists including Ashford & Simpson, Russ Brown, Esther Philips, The Beatles and Curtis Mayfield have achieved over 100,000 downloads and are supported by a diverse set of DJ’s including Luke Unabomber, Chris Duckenfield, Greg Wison, Mr Scruff & Rob Da Bank.
This year Leftside Wobble will continue to release regular edits not only through a selection of labels including Disco Deviance, AutoDiscoteque, Tribute and Kojak Giant Sounds; but also through SoundCloud where he has close to 2000 followers from the worldwide DJ community!
Leftside Wobble may be a relatively new name but Jonathan Moore (the man behind it) has been a regular fixture of the underground club scene for over 20 years. Having got the DJ bug in his early teens after discovering the exotic delights of Electro Funk his DJ career began in earnest in 1988 during the Acid House revolution that was sweeping clubland. Having been a regular at Paul Oakenfold’s Project Club at sleazy South London establishment Ziggy's; the opportunity arose to take over the night in 1988 and for the next 3 years he ran Balearic night The Casbah alongside the De Javu boys (responsible for progressive house classic Never Knew The Devil). In 1990 he met the promoters of seminal nights Solaris & Kinky Disco and become one of the resident DJ’s alongside Eren (responsible for The Source - You Got The Love).
The mid nineties saw him putting in regular appearances at various nights at The Cross (in London’s Kings Cross) including Glitterati and Cheeky People. And at this point he also started working with Dazed and Confused Magazine and became the resident DJ and musical director for their excursions into nightlife such as Blow Up and Been There, Seen It, Done It.
In 1993, he first started working with the Trees For Cities charity, a relationship that has seen him DJ at and help organise nearly 40 nights of fundraising fun over the last 17 years. Fuelled by the best in underground music supplied by DJ’s including X-Press 2, Pete Heller, Bill Brewster, DIY, The Idjut Boys and the Sancho Panza sound system.; the relationship continues to be fruitful and they jointly look forward to the next 40 parties!
His attitudes to both DJing and music production stay true his original Balearic spirit so be prepared to be surprised but also be prepared to party!
Dean Boogie
"A well known face on the Dundee scene as a drummer, vocalist, dancer and of course DJ, Dean Boogie spins a Modish blend of Northern, R'n'B, Funk and Reggae, finding the soul of Disco, House and modern day dance music along the way"
Cage & Aviary
Part man, part machine, part cockatiel, Cage & Aviary take flights of fancy whenever they can. Jamie Paton is a DJ, a one-finger keyboardist, and a pot-tickler. Nigel of Bermondsey is a musician, South London’s finest oscillator, and a dedicated dabbler. Together they are winners of the cosmic lottery. With releases on Dissident, DFA, and Astro Lab under their belt, and a new Tiny Sticks 12 on the horizon, Cage & Aviary are hard at work right now. In amongst all of this they have found time to produce a 6-part remix series on their own The Walls Have Ears imprint (#1Bow Mods / #2 Truck / #3 **K out soon), and remix the likes of Drums of Death, We Have Band, and M (Pop Muzik). So what’s next for South-East London’s resident bird-fanciers? It’s heads down in the studio to produce some more of their own material, with a couple of very interesting labels peering through the bars expectantly.
Marked Vinyl
Marked Vinyl is a record label based in Dundee and it's DJs scratch, juggle, and play hiphop, techno, dubstep, house, acid, jungle, electro, in that order. There are several DJs associated with Marked Vinyl, including Skinny, DJRunDMT, and Ja-wal. On this particular night, probably Marked Vinyl himself will turn up. In this case, expect superfly scratches, multidimensional shamanism, and slamming 80 Hz bass."
F.S.O.D.
F.S.O.D. started over ten years ago with post-rave casualties Guy Roch, Kent Better and Helen Keller The Blind-Deaf DJ. This elite hand picked squad were the in-house selectors for the infamous Shug’s Inc. Sound System and the full on idiocy of the short-lived afterhours mayhem of “Redemption”. With their fearsome battlecry “Cant mix, wont mix” the stumblebutt trio played records in public with scant regard for taste or ability. They got away with it. For seven years.
Coaxed out of semi-retirement by the promise of a Korova Milkplus, Guy Roch has emerged from his mountain cave and will be putting the R back in Soul once again as part of the October conspiracy. He might play Punk, Funk, Crunk, Donk, Wonk, Soul, 10 Pin Bowls, Soup Bowls, Howls, Growls, Disco, Electro, Techno, Diplo, Italo and Shitalo. Expect the worst!”
